What's Happening in Chem 222 This Week:

Welcome to Chemistry 222! This class website is mostly ready for Winter 2010... please explore, make yourself at home, and if you have any questions, contact me. Looking forward to meeting you in person!

  • First and foremost, welcome to Chemistry 222! Make sure you purchase the CH 222 Companion (a collection of PowerPoint notes, the Lab manual, and more) from the MHCC Bookstore. We will be using the same textbook as we did in CH 221. You should start reading Chapter 8 as soon as possible.
  • If you have not done so already, be sure to read the Chemistry 222 Syllabus and the "Getting Started in Chemistry 222" Guide. This guide will offer tips on how to get started in the class.
  • We will start the "Linear Regression" and "Titration of Water Soluble Copper Salts" Labs this week. The Linear Regression lab is a take-home lab which you can start right now if you have experience with linear regression analysis. The Titration of Water Soluble Copper Salts lab is a titration lab which will require a typed lab report. Both of these labs are due during the second week of the term. Look over the Titration lab before your normally scheduled lab time to be aware of what we'll be doing.
  • Learn about the Chapter Guides this week. The Chapter Guides will assist you in learning the material for each problem set by delineating the varied course materials into a navigable outline.
  • Try reviewing Chapter Guide One which will help you to learn the material from Chapter 8.
  • There will be no quiz or problem set due this week. During week 2, we will discuss Problem set #1 which covers problems from Chapter 8; we will also take Quiz #1 which covers material from Problem Set #1.
  • Finally, you might wish to start thinking about this term's Class Presentation. The Class Presentation topic this term is Compounds, and you need to reserve your unique compound choice with me as soon as possible. You can use the online Class Presentation Request Form to get your compound request in early, if you'd like. Please note that I will not respond to your email request until the end of the second week of class (when my gradebook is ready.)
