What's Happening in Chem 223 This Week:

Welcome to CH 223! This class website is mostly ready for Spring 2010... please explore, make yourself at home, and if you have any questions, contact me. Looking forward to meeting you in person!
  • First and foremost, Welcome to CH 223! I look forward to meeting you in person, and if you have any questions at any time, please contact me.
  • Make sure you purchase the CH 223 Companion (a collection of PowerPoint notes, the Lab manual, and more) from the MHCC Bookstore. We will be using the same textbook as we did in CH 222. You should start reading Chapter 15 as soon as possible.
  • If you have not done so already, be sure to read the CH 223 Syllabus and the "Getting Started in Chemistry 223" Guide. This guide will offer tips on how to get started in the class.
  • Learn about the Chapter Guides this week. The Chapter Guides will assist you in learning the material for each problem set by delineating the varied course materials into a navigable outline.
  • Try reviewing Chapter Guide One which will help you to learn the material from Chapter 15.
  • Try to start working on Problem Set #1 which covers problems from Chapter 15. Problem set #1 and Quiz #1 (which covers material from Problem Set #1) will be a part of Week 2's activities.
  • The "Determination of an Equilibrium Constant" Lab will be our first lab assignment. It's important that you get a copy of this lab and look it over before the first lab period. Also make sure you bring your lab notebook (you can use the notebook from last term).
  • Finally, you might wish to start thinking about this term's Class Presentation. The Class Presentation topic this term is "Something in Science That Interests You", and you need to reserve your unique topic choice with me as soon as possible. You can use the online Class Presentation Request Form to get your topic request in early, if you'd like. Please note that I will not respond to your request until the second week of class (when my gradebook is up and running.)
